Press & Media Information

International Liver CongressTM 2014 abstracts will be posted on the congress website as follows:

  • Monday 24 March 2014 at 10:00 CEST - a large quantity of abstracts showing abstract title, author names and abstract data will be posted online two weeks ahead of the congress. These abstracts are publicly available and NOT under embargo.
  • A smaller quantity of abstracts will be retained and presented during the official EASL Press Office activities and/or in official EASL Press Office materials. These abstracts are under embargo until 6:00 GMT on the day the abstract is presented at the congress. Embargoed abstract titles, authors and institutions names will be made available on the congress website on Monday March 24, however, the related data will only be released at 6:00 GMT on the day of the abstract presentation.

Conditions for Industry

Industry must not issue press releases - even under embargo - regarding any of the embargoed abstracts selected to be highlighted during official EASL Press Office activities or in official EASL Press Office materials until the embargo for this data lifts on the day of the abstract presentation.

For all other abstracts, industry are free to issue press releases once the data is published on the ILC website from 24 March, 2014. At any time, industry are free to issue press releases announcing their abstracts have been accepted for ILC, provided all embargo restrictions are maintained.

Conditions for Media

Media must not issue coverage of any kind on the data contained in any of the embargoed abstracts to be highlighted during official EASL Press Office activities or in official EASL Press Office materials until the embargo lifts at 6:00 GMT on the day of the abstract presentation. Journalists, industry, investigators and/or study sponsors must abide by the embargo times set by EASL.

Terms and Copyright

Violation of the embargo will be taken seriously. Individuals and/or sponsors who violate EASL's embargo policies may face sanctions relating to current and future abstract submissions, presentations and visibility at the International Liver CongressTM. The EASL Governing Board is at liberty to ban attendance and/or retract data.
Copyright for abstracts (both oral and poster) on the website and as made available during The International Liver CongressTM 2014 resides with the respective authors. No reproduction, re-use or transcription for any commercial purpose or use of the content is permitted without the written permission of the authors. Permission for re-use must be obtained directly from the author.

Guidelines for Media Representatives

These guidelines are designed to:

  • Ensure the best possible cooperation between all media representatives and EASL arount The International Liver CongressTM 2014
  • Provide guidance to media representatives on how to plan for successful reporting from The International Liver CongressTM 2014

Language

The official language of The International Liver CongressTM 2014 is English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.

Press Registration and Eligibility Requirements

Press may register for The International Liver CongressTM 2014 free of charge. Press registration must be completed online via the EASL website or e-mail to easlpressoffice@cohnwolfe.com

Please note that in order to complete registration, the congress organizer's will require proof of the journalist's professional affiliation. Journalists are required to submit a photocopy of official press credentials and/or a letter of assignment from the media organization being represented.

A registration is required to attend the congress to obtain the official International Liver CongressTM 2014 press materials and to use the press facilities onsite.

EASL Press Office

  • The official EASL press office is open to registered and accredited media representatives only.
  • Media representatives will be notified about the location of the press office at the time of their arrival and registration at the congress centre. Media representatives will be able to access the virtual press office where all media materials will be housed. Hard copies of press releases issued by EASL can be requested from this office.
  • Press activities may be conducted onsite at the press office, available for accredited media representatives.
  • There will be computers, laptop connections and printing facilities provided in the press office for members of the media.
  • Interview rooms will be available for use by the media. These can be booked in advance or onsite via the press office staff.
  • Press office staff will be available throughout the congress period. Staff will be responsible for badge-checking, the general upkeep of the room and answering press enquiries. Staff will not be responsible for press related tasks, such as photocopying or secretarial duties.
  • Coffee and refreshments will be provided in the press office at no extra charge for the sole use of accredited media representatives.
  • Media representatives wishing to arrange interviews with EASL spokespersons or investigators whose abstracts were selected for presentation at the official EASL press conference should check in onsite with EASL press office staff.
